Job description
- Coordinate and provide academic leadership of the New Media Studies Modules, including responsibility for developing professional-practice and e-learning standards and resources,
- Design and teach appropriate learning units employing Adobe software programs: Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Premier Pro, After Effects etc. as well as web-based design software.
- Teach Digital Photography, applied - Photography, and Videography to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
- Teach all aspects of traditional and alternative printmaking methods and techniques in the undergraduate Printmaking modules in the department.
- Supervise/co-supervise Masters-level students in dissertation writing and/or practical portfolio development - compatible with their own research areas.
- Provide academic support for Honours-level, Work-Integrated-Learning units.
- Assist with Honours-level academic theory support and supervision when required.
- Liaise with the FADA Fab Lab on appropriate projects and design and manufacture opportunities.
- Actively contribute to the Department’s research/artistic/curatorial profile through publications, exhibitions, projects, conference papers and/or external representation.
- Undertake all necessary Module, Year and Departmental administration responsibilities.
- Undertake all appropriate Module, Year and Departmental administrative responsibilities associated with the New Media Studies curriculum.
- Undertake all Module, Year and Departmental administrative responsibilities associated with the printmaking curriculum.
- Manage all aspects of the Printmaking Studio, Applied and Digital photography venues and equipment, the computer studios as well as the associated Occupational Health and Safety regulations and requirements.
- Coordinate all New Media Studies and printmaking procurement requirements related to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching including software licences and hardware, press etc maintenance.
- Manage any Work-Integrated-Learning in New Media Studies and Printmaking, at Honours level.
- Coordinate and contribute to all recurriculation initiatives in New Media Studies and printmaking modules, including the requirements for online learning.
- Represent the Departmental on relevant Faculty committees.
Minimum requirements
- A Master’s degree in Fine / Visual Art.
- A minimum of five years lecturing / teaching experience.
- Teaching of New Media and Printmaking to Honours level is a requirement.
- Excellent written and verbal English communications skills.
- Excellent teaching skills and good interpersonal skills as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Enthusiasm and passion for the Visual Arts.
- Experience in Artmaking and Research.
- Willingness to contribute to Community Engagement and to pursue international links where possible.
- Teaching experience at a Higher Education Institution
- A track record of post-graduate research supervision and publication in the relevant field
- Proven record of engagement with the scholarship of teaching, e.g. teaching evaluation or relevant portfolio.
- Innovative teaching techniques incorporating technology.
- Must have an active artmaking / exhibitions profile and/or Curatorial practice
- Ability to develop new undergraduate and postgraduate modules.
- Registration for PhD or interest in further study will be considered an advantage.
