Job description

The Johannesburg Business School (JBS), established in 2017 is part of the University of Johannesburg. JBS offers a range of innovative programmes expertly designed to develop effective, ethical and enterprising African leaders. With an emphasis on contextual intelligence, leaders are equipped to successfully navigate and overcome the complexities of today’s world, while advancing the evolution of the business environment for the benefit of their organisations and society at large.
 
The Centre for Entrepreneurship (CE)is a division JBS which focuses on small medium enterprise development. It provides a platform to stimulate and inform purpose-driven business practices toward a collective impact. The Johannesburg Business School is committed to making a difference in our economy by increasing employment opportunities through helping small and medium sized business grow.
 
All programmes designed and delivered by JBS are grounded in the African context, with a strong global connection, for disruptors, entrepreneurs and managers alike. Development with an impact on the community, increasingly part of day-to-day business in Africa, underpins what JBS represents and does
 
This role reports to the Director: JBS.
 
Responsibilities:
 
The incumbent will be responsible for business development, Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) advisory, programme development and customer relations for JBSCE
 
  • Develop the CE Business Development strategy – with clear targets specifically financial – short, medium and long term – in line with business plan, agreed
  • Assist Head of Executive Programmes in developing a clear budget and sales plan for CE programmes
  • Develop a ESD client pipeline: new, previous and key accounts.
  • Co-create with corporate clients to customise ESD programme
  • ESD and incubation product development
  • Work closely with programme delivery team ensure ESD programmes are delivered to the corporate client’s expectations.
  • Provide input into the marketing strategy and advertising campaign of JBSCE

Minimum requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree with specialisation in Social Sciences, Psychology or Business Management or any relevant qualification (NQF 7) or equivalent
  • At least 5 years’ work experience in a professional services environment
  • Understanding of the ESD and educational environment
  • Experience in stakeholder and key account management
  • MS Office skills.
  • Experience in administration, project management and coordination

  • Must have the ability to write proposals and convert JBSCE products/programmes into a value proposition for clients.

  • A proven record in strong presentation, report-writing and proposal writing skills.
  • A proven record in attracting ESD funds, managing ESD programmes and engaging with SMMEs
  • A strong network of potential contacts for the JBS
