Job description

The Faculty of Engineering & Built Environments (FEBE) prides itself in its vibrant, dynamic and diverse engineering community of scholars who are passionate about enhancing the students learning experience, the research profile of the Faculty and the academic, social and economic impact of the Faculty’s teaching and research programmes.

The Department of Civil Engineering Technology (DCET) is one of several departments in FEBE. The Department offers accredited Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BEng Tech) and BEng Tech (Hons) programmes.

Job Description:

The candidate will be expected to assist the department and students with research and laboratory practical sessions.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with subject related laboratory practicals
  • Assist the department with relevant research practicals
  • Ensure that all laboratory equipment is calibrated at all times


Minimum requirements

  • National Diploma: Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of three (3) years appropriate laboratory experience
  
Recommendations:
 
  • Knowledge of SABS test methods
  • Prior experience in working with a diverse group of people, preferably in a supervisory capacity, will be an added advantage
  • Experience in health and safety practices will be an advantage.
  
Competencies and Behavioural Attributes:

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with high level of proficiency in English
  • Computer literacy
