Job description
- Lecture financial management at an undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, which includes lecturing modules in finance, cost and management accounting, strategy as well as finance related case studies.
- Set and mark tests, assignments and examination papers.
- Encourage students' personal development through consultation and tutorials.
- Invigilate tests and examinations.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
- Contribute to general administration of the department, school and college.
- Attend and speak at conferences and seminars and/or conduct research in order to produce at least one accredited research output per year.
- Be involved with professional, national and international bodies/boards that are related to his/her discipline.
- Participate in community engagement.
- Participate in all departmental activities.
Minimum requirements
- Chartered Management Accountant (i.e. ACMA, CGMA or FCMA, CGMA) registered with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) AND a relevant Honours qualification or Post Graduate Diploma (on NQF level 8) in Accounting or Financial Management (or related field); OR
- Appropriate practical experience.
- Proven ability to think critically, analytically, and laterally across disciplines and sectors (transdisciplinary).
- Computer literate with an intermediate knowledge of MS Office, especially MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
- Fluent in written and oral English communication.
- Ability to lecture large groups of students.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good time management skills.
- Good planning and organisational skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Good listening skills.
- Good conflict management skills.
- Self-driven and a lifelong learner.
- Ability to monitor and coach student performance and provide critical feedback in an objective and professional manner.
- Preference will be given to a Chartered Management Accountant (i.e. ACMA, CGMA or FCMA, CGMA) registered with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) with a relevant Master’s degree / PhD.
- Previous experience in teaching Financial Management at an undergraduate level.
- Research experience and research output.
- Postgraduate supervision experience (i.e. at Master’s and PhD level).
- Experience in online teaching.
