Associate Professor (Faculty of Engineering & the Built Environment: Department of Civil Engineering Science)

Job description
- Present lectures to Undergraduate, Honours and Postgraduate Students;
- Develop new course/module material as well as practical guides for undergrad, Honours, Short Learning Programmes (SLPs) and/or postgraduate;
- Participate in research production and supervision of undergraduate, Honours and Postgraduate students in the department/Faculty;
- Participation in voluntary associations and/or professional bodies;
- Active participation in department administration activities
Minimum requirements
- PhD in Civil (materials/structural) Engineering or a closely related (NQF 10 or equivalent);
- A minimum of five years teaching experience at a tertiary institution, or
- Evidence of research outputs (at least 5 units on accredited journals), postgraduate supervision (at least 5 Masters and 1 Doctoral as main supervisor), and presentations at national and international conferences.
- Registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or must undertake to do so within three (3) months of joining the department;
- A minimum of three years industrial experience.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal with high level of proficiency in English
- Good oral communication in at least one other language
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Computer literacy including MS Office (MS Word and Excel)
