Job description
- Develop a partnering approach with Business Support and Faculties, Commercial Entities, Business Support, and Research
- Create operational capacity regarding strategic financial planning, modelling, analysis, postimplementation reviews, commercial support, and operational reporting.
- Work in conjunction with Finance Division, to ensure that proper business support is lent to the business partners in terms of business understanding and reporting.
- Provide adequate visibility and understanding behind the Finance products and offerings.
- Conduct analysis of customer opportunities and perform investigative work on specific problems that arise.
- Implement, monitor, and manage internal controls regarding the recording & accounting of client budgets and expenses.
- Provide financial modeling, business decision support, and cost/benefit analysis to relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee the allocation of external funds in alignment with UJ's strategic direction.
Minimum requirements
- Registration with SAICA as a Chartered Accountant or registration with CIMA
- Postgraduate qualification and/or advanced technical or professional certification (NQF 8)
- Industry-Specific Qualification (NQF 8)
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of experience in the financial environment
- Extensive and demonstrable management experience
- Comprehension and ability across key financial management components, including IFRS requirements.
- Management of medium to large staff contingent.
- Experience in project management and knowledge of Project Management principles
- Budgeting experience
- Knowledge of financial analysis and financial planning at strategic level
- Business and management principles and processes within the specific environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Decision-making skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems.
- Ability to assess self and others and to take corrective action.
- Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
- Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and direct programs and initiatives.
