The College of Business and Economics is recruiting for a Head of College Administration (HCA): Postgraduate, CEPs and online programmes to support the Executive Dean in the execution of his duties. Set within a fast-past environment, this role demands outstanding planning and organisational skills in rendering excellent governance support. The HCA reports directly to the Executive Dean.
 
Responsibilities:
 
 CBE Postgraduate, CEP and online programme administration:
  • Planning and organising the student life cycle of this portfolio effectively and efficiently.
  • Leading an efficient, client-focused, one-stop Faculty Administration
  • Managing a team of Senior Faculty Officers, Faculty Officers and general administration staff.
  • Trouble shooting and responding appropriately to unforeseen circumstances within the Higher Education environment that is subject to change and uncertainty.
  • Ensuring PQM alignment in the academic structure.
  • Ensure new qualifications (PG, CEPs and online) are created and captured on the system.
  • Ensuring the application of relevant CBE and University policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Ensuring appropriate HR management of CBE academic administrators.
  • Managing phasing out of qualifications.
  • Processing the outcomes of student transgressions.
  • Liaison between various departments and CBE administration staff.
  • Verification of UJenius and Top achiever students.
  • Responsible for the correctness of the calculation criteria for the CBE.
  • Overseeing an extensive administrative portfolio involving coding and capturing of data on ITS.
  • Responsible for CBE enrolment plan.
  • Managing admissions and meeting registration targets.
  • Collate and finalise PG yearbook.
  • Approval of access to various UJ systems.
  • Signing off on the fee structure.
  • Attending to multiple queries.
 
CBE Postgraduate, CEP and online programme governance:
  • Ensure legal compliance of CBE academic administration.
  • Ensuring accuracy and correctness of College rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring alignment between College and University rules and regulations.
  • Custodian of the CBE academic architecture, rules and regulations, policies and procedures.

Minimum requirements

  • A relevant Master's degree (NQF9)
  • 5 – 8 years’ experience in academic and student administration within a higher education institution
  • Proven managerial experience.
  • Two to three years' experience as Senior Faculty Officer/Faculty Officer III
  • Proven computer skills in Windows and MS Office, ITS, MAMS
