Job description
“Please note that the University is obligated, in terms of recent amendments to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 2021 (Act 13 of 2021), to assess all prospective employees (including applicants) against the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO). The outcome of such an assessment may have an impact upon possible employment with the University.
- Involvement in curriculum development and teaching in the department’s programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels including DEd, Honours, Masters, ADE REM Ed, PGCE and BEd programs.
- Development of modules within technology assisted teaching, learning and assessment practices.
- Research supervision of Honours, Masters and Doctoral postgraduate students in the field of Educational Psychology.
- Lead research projects
- Procure funding for research
- Involvement in core activities of the department such as academic administration, research, short-course development and marketing.
- Involvement in community engagement and continuous professional development.
Minimum requirements
- Applicable PhD/DEd degree
- At least 6 years' teaching experience at the tertiary level
- Experience in blended/online teaching
- Sustained accredited research output (in local and international journals and books/ book chapters)
- Experience in postgraduate supervision at Honours, Masters and Doctoral level
- Applicable PhD/DEd degree
- At least 4 years' teaching experience at the tertiary level
- Experience in blended/online teaching
- Sustained accredited research output (in local and international journals and books/ book chapters)
- Experience in postgraduate supervision at Honours, Masters and Doctoral level
- Excellent written and verbal English communications skills
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Good interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues
- An outstanding ability to use a range of technology-enhanced tools
- Well-developed scholarship of teaching and learning
- Adept at teaching and development of materials for blended an online education
- Experience in leading research and/or educational psychology development projects
- Experience in securing research funding
- Collaboration with leading scholars in the field of educational psychology
- Experience in the development and delivery of on-line and short learning programmes will be a strong recommendation
- Registered as an Educational Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA)
