Job description
“Please note that the University is obligated, in terms of recent amendments to the Criminal Law (Sexual Offences and Related Matters) Amendment Act 2021 (Act 13 of 2021), to assess all prospective employees (including applicants) against the National Register for Sex Offenders (NRSO). The outcome of such an assessment may have an impact upon possible employment with the University.

- Identification of external funding opportunities
- Management of NRF evaluation and rating system applications and related processes
- Manage the NRF Thematic Grants Programme (from concept note to full proposal submission) and the
FBIP funding programme, providing strategic and administrative support through the application process - Screening of proposals for completeness and adherence to the criteria of the Calls
- Management of the calls for funding proposals
- Liaising with external stakeholders such as funders
- Arrange briefing sessions focusing on various research support initiatives such as funding proposal
applications, etc - To manage the pre–award and post–award funding processes
- Proper analyses of data received from funding applications
- Oversee the management and implementation of the UCDP grant and its associated activities
- Coordinate capacity development workshops for researchers and academic staff
- Integrated reporting on various sub–programmes that the incumbent will be responsible for
Minimum requirements
- Degree or any relevant qualification (NQF 7) in Business Administration, Project Management, Public
Management and Governance or equivalent, but a Postgraduate Degree in Business Administration or
Project Management or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage. - Three (3) to five (5) years’ proven working experience in Research Administration.
- Three (3) to five (5) years’ proven working experience in grant management, such as NRF systems,
Wellcome Trust, and MRC. - Proven project and stakeholder management skills
- Strong experience in the Higher Education Sector and the National System of Innovation
- Must be proficient with Computer Literacy
- Good report writing skills
- Good presentation skills
- A team player with excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Must be self-motivated and be able to complete projects without direct supervision
- Project management skills and stakeholder management
